# Chris Griffin

Middle child and only son of the Griffin family, a good-natured teenager at a Quahog high school.

## Core facts

- **Lives in:** Quahog, Rhode Island
- **Voiced by:** Seth Green, from the pilot to the present. Green has said the voice drew on Buffalo Bill from *The Silence of the Lambs*.
- **First appearance:** Death Has a Shadow (S01E01, 31 January 1999)
- **Created by:** Seth MacFarlane, who based him on Milt, the teenage son of Larry Cummings in the 1995 student short *The Life of Larry*
- **Credited appearances:** 452 episodes across 24 seasons. This is a floor, because the source records at most ten voice credits per episode.

## Relationships

- **Parents:** [Peter Griffin](peter-griffin.md), whose poor judgement he shares, and [Lois Griffin](lois-griffin.md)
- **Siblings:** [Meg](meg-griffin.md) and [Stewie](stewie-griffin.md), with whom he often teams up
- **Neighbour:** [Herbert](herbert.md), an elderly man whose unwanted attention he rejects
- **Girlfriend (briefly):** [Connie D'Amico](connie-damico.md), in Stew-Roids (S07E13)
- **Closet resident:** the Evil Monkey, a long-running gag

## Character

He is easy-going and often naive, though he tends to learn faster than his father. He has a talent for filmmaking and editing. He began as gregarious but slow-witted and became more awkward over time; his social standing declines across the series while he stays outwardly confident. A season 23 episode confirmed that he is autistic.

## Common errors to avoid

- **The voice actor has not changed.** Seth Green is credited in every listed episode.
- **The Evil Monkey is real within the show.** Chris proves it exists in Hannah Banana (S08E05).
- **Chris's defence of Seth Green's career** is a running gag that began in the Star Wars parody Blue Harvest.

## Key episodes

- S01E01 Death Has a Shadow: the pilot
- S04E20 Patriot Games: he is the only family member to pick up a cockney accent in London
- S07E13 Stew-Roids: dating Connie D'Amico briefly makes him popular, then shallow
- S08E05 Hannah Banana: he befriends the Evil Monkey
