# Stewie Kills Lois

Episode 4 of Family Guy season 6 (S06E04), the 102nd Family Guy episode overall. Written by David A. Goodman and directed by John Holmquist. First broadcast on 4 November 2007.

## Story

Brian gives Lois cruise tickets for her birthday, hoping to go with her, but she takes Peter instead. Left behind, Stewie is furious; after Brian says he never carries out his threats, he resolves to prove him wrong. On the ship Peter embarrasses Lois repeatedly. When she steps out on deck alone, Stewie arrives by speedboat and shoots her overboard with a submachine gun. Joe calls off the search after six days. Over the next year Peter dates again and has Joe impersonate Lois for Chris's sake. Stewie lets slip to Brian that he was responsible and dumps his gun and drawings. A cashed life insurance policy makes Joe, Quagmire and Cleveland suspect Peter, and the discarded evidence seems to confirm it. Peter is tried for murder and Carter testifies falsely against him. As a life sentence looms, Lois walks into the courtroom and names Stewie as her attacker.

## Production and reception

- David A. Goodman wrote the episode and John Holmquist directed it, and it was made as a two part story. ([Wikipedia: Stewie Kills Lois and Lois Kills Stewie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewie_Kills_Lois_and_Lois_Kills_Stewie))
- A 100th episode tribute special hosted by Seth MacFarlane aired on Fox before the episode, showing clips from the previous 99 episodes. ([Wikipedia: Stewie Kills Lois and Lois Kills Stewie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewie_Kills_Lois_and_Lois_Kills_Stewie))
- The cliffhanger nods to The Best of Both Worlds, a two-part Star Trek: The Next Generation story; Paramount withheld the rights to its music, so Ron Jones, who had composed it, wrote a new score. ([Wikipedia: Stewie Kills Lois and Lois Kills Stewie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewie_Kills_Lois_and_Lois_Kills_Stewie))
- These were the final new episodes broadcast ahead of the Writers Guild of America strike of 2007 to 2008. ([Wikipedia: Stewie Kills Lois and Lois Kills Stewie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewie_Kills_Lois_and_Lois_Kills_Stewie))
- Ahsan Haque of IGN rated it 9 out of 10 and Genevieve Koski of The A.V. Club gave it a B+, while Richard Keller of TV Squad found it disjointed and disappointing. ([Wikipedia: Stewie Kills Lois and Lois Kills Stewie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewie_Kills_Lois_and_Lois_Kills_Stewie))
