I Never Met the Dead Man
Episode 2 of Family Guy season 1 (S01E02), the 2nd Family Guy episode overall. Written by Chris Sheridan and directed by Michael Dante DiMartino. First broadcast on 11 April 1999.
Story
Lois, tired of Peter watching television all day, has him teach Meg to drive. His advice is poor and Meg fails her test. Driving her home, Peter spots a programme on a set in a nearby house and crashes into Quahog's cable transmitter, knocking out reception for the whole town. He persuades Meg to take the blame in exchange for a car. Stewie, forced to eat broccoli, takes the dish to build a weather machine that will destroy the vegetable. Meg eventually confesses and Lois urges the town to enjoy life without television. Peter throws himself into outdoor activities, exhausting the family, then leaves for a festival with William Shatner. Stewie's machine brings a storm; during a driving lesson Meg hits both men, killing Shatner. Peter recovers in a full body cast in front of a television and is hooked once more.
