The Son Also Draws
Episode 6 of Family Guy season 1 (S01E06), the 6th Family Guy episode overall. Written by Ricky Blitt and directed by Neil Affleck. First broadcast on 9 May 1999.
Story
Chris wants to quit the Youth Scouts but dares not tell Peter. He is expelled after running over the troop leader at a soap box derby. Peter drives the family to Scout headquarters in Manhattan to have him readmitted. Brian, left at home, is stuck watching One Day at a Time and grows dim. At a Native American casino on the way, Lois takes to gambling and loses the car. Peter claims Native American ancestry to get it back, and the sceptical elders send him on a vision quest. Chris goes along, hoping to say he would rather draw. Weak from hunger, Peter talks to trees and meets his spirit guide, Fonzie from Happy Days. He finally listens to Chris and accepts that his son is an artist. Back at the casino, they recover the car.
