About Francis Griffin

Francis Griffin is Peter Griffin's stepfather, married to Peter's mother, Thelma, which makes him step-grandfather to Meg, Chris and Stewie. Voiced by Charles Durning, he is an 82-year-old Irish American and a devout Catholic. He is grouchy, stubborn and abusive. Lois draws his disapproval because she is not Catholic. He objects to how his stepson's family lives and tries to impose his religious views on them. He first appeared in "Holy Crap". In "Peter's Two Dads" he performs a unicycle act as a clown at Meg's seventeenth birthday party. A drunk Peter falls on him and crushes him, and he later dies in hospital from his injuries. Soon afterwards, during hypnotherapy, Peter recalls a childhood memory of Francis telling him he was not his real father. Francis appears once more as a vision in "Family Goy".
