Boopa-dee Bappa-dee
Episode 5 of Family Guy season 12 (S12E05), the 215th Family Guy episode overall. Written by Wellesley Wild and directed by Mike Kim. First broadcast on 17 November 2013.
Story
Lois books tickets to Italy during an airline price war and lets Peter believe they are going to a water park until the plane is in the air. He sulks in the hotel while she sightsees, and only makes an effort once Brian points out that Lois has gone off with an Italian man. Peter wins her round, then burns the family's passports and announces that they are staying. A month later the Griffins have gone native, with Meg attached to Mario and his brother Luigi in the house, but money is short and the consulate is no help. They stow away on a cargo ship, posing as sex dolls, and reach home. Mario later calls at the house to take things further with Meg.
Production and reception
- Nielsen figures gave it a 2.2 rating and an audience of 4.46 million, the largest in Fox's animation block that evening, ahead of The Simpsons on 4.08 million. Wikipedia, Boopa-dee Bappa-dee
- Eric Thurm of The A.V. Club graded it C minus, writing that the episode failed to combine the show's loose style with the sitcom plotting it borrowed. Wikipedia, Boopa-dee Bappa-dee
