Fresh Heir
Episode 14 of Family Guy season 12 (S12E14), the 224th Family Guy episode overall. Written by Steve Callaghan and directed by Mike Kim. First broadcast on 23 March 2014.
Story
Peter turns Chris down when he asks to spend time together. Carter then breaks his leg on an escalator, and with Lois unavailable and Meg unwilling, Chris ends up looking after him. The two get on well, and once the leg heals Chris refuses payment, which so impresses Carter that he makes his grandson sole heir to the family fortune. Peter starts courting Chris for access to the money. A remark at the Drunken Clam about whoever ends up marrying Chris gives Peter the idea of a wedding in Vermont, and he has already tricked Lois into signing divorce papers. Chris agrees, because it means time with his father. Lois and the family stop the ceremony, Chris says he knew all along, and the two settle for being father and son.
Production and reception
- Nielsen figures gave it a 2.2 rating among viewers aged 18 to 49 and an audience of 4.38 million, the largest in Fox's animation block that evening. Wikipedia, Fresh Heir
- Eric Thurm of The A.V. Club graded it D, holding that the repeated incest jokes sank a story that could otherwise have worked. Wikipedia, Fresh Heir
