Dog Gone

Episode 8 of Family Guy season 8 (S08E08), the 134th Family Guy episode overall. Written by Steve Callaghan and directed by Julius Wu. First broadcast on 29 November 2009.

Story

Brian is invited to an award ceremony for his novel, run by the "Rhode Island Society for Special Literary Excellence", and only on arrival grasps what special means. He drinks heavily, drives home and runs over a dog. He buries it outside the house, but Stewie saw everything and plays on his guilt until he confesses. Joe and the family laugh, saying nobody minds when an animal dies. Brian founds the Quahog Animal Equal Rights League, but the townspeople reject the idea and end up chasing him to eat him. Convinced his life has no value, Brian breaks down. Stewie stages Brian's death by transferring the collar to a stray dog and setting a fire that kills it, and the grieving Griffins show how much they cared. Meanwhile Lois hires a maid, Consuela, who refuses to leave the house; Peter finally chloroforms her and leaves her on Joe's porch.
