When You Wish Upon a Weinstein
Episode 22 of Family Guy season 3 (S03E22), the 50th Family Guy episode overall. Written by Ricky Blitt and directed by Dan Povenmire. First released on 9 September 2003.
Story
Peter gives Lois's emergency savings to Jim Kaplan, a con man selling volcano insurance. Lois tells Peter to get the money back. Quagmire and Cleveland credit Jewish men for their wealth, so Peter decides he needs one to handle his finances. Max Weinstein's car breaks down outside the house, and Peter pressures him into helping get the cash back from Kaplan. After dinner with Max and a synagogue visit, Peter decides converting Chris to Judaism would make him successful. Father and son drive to Las Vegas for a quick bar mitzvah. Lois, tipped off by Brian, stops the ceremony, but the offended congregation attacks the family. On the bus home Lois argues that success does not depend on religion, and Peter accepts he was wrong. The bus turns out to be full of nuns, who attack them for straying from Catholicism.
