I Dream of Jesus

Episode 2 of Family Guy season 7 (S07E02), the 112th Family Guy episode overall. Written by Brian Scully and directed by Mike Kim. First broadcast on 5 October 2008.

Story

At a 1950s-themed diner Peter hears Surfin' Bird by the Trashmen and takes the record home when staff realise the song dates from the 1960s. He plays it constantly and spends over 6,000 dollars of the family savings on a television slot to perform it. Brian and Stewie take the record and destroy it. Peter goes to the record shop for a replacement and recognises the assistant as Jesus Christ, who visits Earth every hundred years. The two become friends and Jesus joins the family for dinner, turning the meal into sundaes when Brian asks for proof. Peter persuades him to go public. Jesus becomes a celebrity, appearing on The Tonight Show and the MTV Movie Awards, and neglects Peter. He is arrested after being found disoriented in Mary-Kate Olsen's flat. Peter bails him out, and Jesus decides to leave, giving Peter another copy of Surfin' Bird.
